Abbey of Gethsemani (America's Oldest Group of Monks)
This monastery is only a 2 minute drive from the Log Still campus. It will act as a spiritual oasis during the time of the conference. Listen to the monks sing and pray during the Liturgy of the Hours, join them for Mass, go hiking on their extensive trails, visit the welcome center, and stay a moment to gain peace of heart. Built in 1848, it is the home of the famous monk-writer Thomas Merton.

For conference attendees who was to continue this historic summer of anniversary and faith, we recommend the
National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, which will be in the Diocese of Paterson, New York by June 14th. This 13 colonies pilgrimage will conclude in Philadelphia over the 4th of July weekend, the 250th in our nation's history.
Also, there is the Camino of Maryland. Their June 8-21 pilgrimage explores many historic Catholic sites in the original colony of Catholics, Maryland. The Kentucky Holy Land started when settlers from Maryland headed out West.

Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park: Discover the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, the nation's famous president who was also taught by a Catholic school teacher in a one-room log cabin. Features a monumental temple building in the Kentucky wilderness and trails.
Abraham Lincoln's Boyhood Home at Knob Creek: A great place to hike! Also visit the free welcome center which has Lincoln exhibits and artifacts.
Sisters of Loretto: The first American sisterhood founded by Fr. Charles Nerinckx. The campus has a lake, the grave of Fr. Nerinckx, the home of the first priest ordained in the USA, Fr. Badin, and a museum.
Oscar Getz Museum of Bourbon History: This museum, in the wonderful Spalding Hall, has all of the bourbon artifacts you could want to see and learn about. It features multiple exhibits. Entry is free.
My Old Kentucky Home: The famous American songwriter Stephen Foster once wrote a song about this beautiful mansion. Group discount time coming soon.
Kentucky Railway Museum: Visit the museum and reserve your spot for a train tour!
The Civil War Museum of the Western Theatre / Colonial Village: This acclaimed museum is home to a number of civil war artifacts and fascinating exhibits (the 4th largest collection in the nation). It is next to a colonial village.
Lt. General Hal Moore Museum / Women's Civil War Museum: These two museums are connected to the Civil War Museum listed above. The former includes military history of all American wars, and the later is full of unique history related to women in the Civil War.
National Bourbon Week: Lasting June 14th-21st in Bardstown, also the Bourbon capital of the world.
The Shrine of St. Martin of Tours, Louisville: See two full-body skeletons of Christian martyrs from the third century, St. Magnus and St. Bonosa. The Shrine also 24/7 Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration.
Bishop Flaget Log Cabin at St. Thomas: This historic place is home to a church modeled after the first seminary in America, St. Mary's in Baltimore. The "Patriarch of the West," Bishop Flaget would reside here and teach his own young seminarians.
St. Joseph's Proto-Cathedral: No visit to the Kentucky Holy Land is complete without a visit to the "Cathedral in the Wilderness." It exemplifies the American church style with Ionic columns and has art donated to it by Pope Leo XII, King Louis Philippe I of France, and Francis I, King of the Two Sicilies as well as a painting by Renaissance artist Jan van Eyck. When it was built in 1819, it was the second-tallest building in the United States, surpassed only by the U.S. Capitol.
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth: Explore a nice museum of history with a letter signed by Abraham Lincoln and walk around a peaceful campus.
Lincoln Homestead State Park: The site of the original home of Lincoln's mother and a replica village of the late 1700s amidst the rolling hills of Springfield, KY.
My Old Kentucky Dinner Train: From Bardstown, enjoy a beautiful two-hour train ride through the Kentucky countryside while indulging in a gourmet three-course lunch with seafood, meat, and vegetarian options.
Archdiocesan History Center, Louisville: See original Kentucky Catholic artifacts and exihibits in this wonderful musuem. Open Sunday at 10:30am–2:00pm. Group Tours can be scheduled by calling the parish office (502) 582-2971. Learn more.
