The Sacred Heart Crusade recommends the following spiritual activities, especially for its members.
The Little Office of the Sacred Heart
These prayers can be said daily, throughout the day. This routine of prayer can enhance one’s day with order and strengthen their spiritual life.
Focused Prayer
While all prayer is valuable, one powerful type of prayer that is recommended is a meditative mental prayer that seeks to discover the love of Jesus’ Sacred Heart. Imagine His love and place the image of the Cross before your mind. Think of the great wounds this heart has suffered. Think of the love Jesus still has for the world, much greater than we can realize.
Mercy Moment
Members of this Crusade can choose a time of day that they will take a moment to mediate on Jesus’ mercy. To end this time, they will ask Him for more mercy. Members can set an alarm each day or remember by placing this time during their daily routine.
This prayer will help kindle the love of Jesus’ Sacred Heart in your own heart.
Novena to the Sacred Heart by St. Alphonsus Ligouri
This specific novena is nine days of deepening your devotion to Jesus. You can pray this novena with a special intention or need in mind as you do so.
Nothing can compare to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass celebrated by the Catholic Church. It has been a source of nourishment for Christians for nearly two-thousand years. Traditionally, receiving Holy Communion on the First Friday of the month for nine-consecutive months is a devoted practice.
One of the greatest gifts of Jesus Christ is His permanent presence with us in the Holy Eucharist. Come, let us adore Him. Realize, as well, that you can make an Act of Spiritual Communion with Jesus in your heart anywhere at any time. Simply, ask Jesus to come into your heart.
Jesus gave the Apostles the power to forgive sins. (John 20:22) The descendants of the Apostles are the priests of the Catholic Church. While we can of course confess to God without a priest, this Sacramental way is the way Jesus Christ put in place for us to receive absolution—a physical sign that we can understand.
All Scripture is the living word of God and it is profitable for edification.
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647–1690)
“Behold this Heart which has loved men so much and is so little loved in return.”
